Project Accountant

The Property Accountant will work within this collaborative environment communicating with various divisions and be responsible for financial reporting and improving of the financial performance of the homebuilding operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for results and willingness to put in the time & effort to make sure the job is done right.


Responsibilities
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational and financial reports
  • Prepare monthly draws and reporting requests for lenders and capital partners.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of budgeting, forecasting, and financial models.
  • On an ad-hoc basis, assist with various technical accounting / financial reporting tasks.
  • Financial Reporting – Monthly financial reviews, analysis, bank draws, project estimates, and investigating gross margin variances/trends of backlog and closed homes
  • Budgeting/Forecasting – Provide analysis on monthly and quarterly results, assist with annual sales & operating plan, develop monthly forecasts, review plan performance, and additional special projects
  • Operational Support – Review monthly plans for accuracy/consistency, create financial models & analysis, land & indirect cost analysis, analyze trends, & work closely with land acquisition team
  • Support CRO on special projects as required
  • Ad hoc analysis to meet division and corporate needs

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 1- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate
  • Strong GAAP knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to work independently
