<p>Our client, a highly successful Property Management Company, is seeking a Controller to join their team! This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing company that has been operating for nearly 20 years. Employees can expect a warm and welcoming culture.</p>
<p>The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role will also facilitate the transaction and closing process on property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinances. The Controller will work closely with the property management team to develop key financial systems and processes.</p>
<p><strong>Salary:</strong> From $125,000.00 per year</p>
<h5><strong>Responsibilities and Duties:</strong></h5>
<ul>
<li>Oversee the monthly financial close process for property portfolio and corporate divisions.</li>
<li>Develop, document, and maintain business processes and accounting policies.</li>
<li>Gather and provide data, reports, or other supporting documents to assist the CFO or other business unit leaders in making informed and sound decisions; includes but not limited to creating reports for specific data/uses as requested by the CFO.</li>
<li>Manage bank relationships and treasury management.</li>
<li>Assist with annual insurance review, working closely with broker on policy renewal.</li>
<li>Facilitating the closing process on property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinances to include but not limited to broker, seller, and lender communications.</li>
<li>Working closely with the VP of Asset Management to assess portfolio performance and prepare investor reports.</li>
<li>Assist with preparation of annual operating budgets to include template development and/or enhancement.</li>
<li>Oversee tax return preparation with a third-party CPA firm.</li>
<li>Primary point of contact between CPA’s, auditors, attorneys, and mortgage brokers to provide necessary documentation to ensure timely and accurate completion of services provided.</li>
<li>Assist with sourcing new loans through conventional lending routes for upcoming projects/expenses.</li>
<li>Responsible for the assessment of unforeseen expenses and the implications of such, while providing recommendations to the CFO on next steps.</li>
<li>Manage team members in the accounting department; to include but not limited to hiring, performance management, setting goals, providing training, hosting weekly meetings, assist with prioritization and special project assignment.</li>
</ul>
<h5><strong>Requirements:</strong></h5>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, CPA strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Controller experience preferred.</li>
<li>Real estate experience preferred.</li>
<li>Experience with financial analysis, planning, budgeting, and forecasting with minimum 5 years utilization of such skills.</li>
<li>Experience in real estate transacting and closing processes.</li>
<li>Experience with debt and equity placement.</li>
<li>Ability to manage multiple projects effectively under tight deadlines and minimal supervision.</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present problems and solutions to upper level management</li>
