JWS Alumni: Tori Stillman’s Journey to Resident Services Coordinator

Within one short month of joining the JWilliams Staffing (JWS) team, Tori Stillman was hired by Greystar as their Resident Services Coordinator. While beginning her career in the fast-paced industry of fashion, Tori decided to make an ambitious change and found her calling in the multi-family property management industry. 

 

“I originally wanted to become a Community Manager. However, now I see that there are endless possibilities for advancement.” – Tori Stillman

Tori had researched community manager positions and thought that this type of role might be a good fit for her. After identifying JWS as her way to enter the property management industry, she joined our team and began to evaluate possibilities other than community manager. New doors opened to a selection of exciting and fulfilling multi-family careers. From leasing and management to corporate and government positions, Tori was keen on exploring this plethora of opportunity.

Tori’s JWS Manager, Brandon Holland, helped her understand the wide variety of roles available within the property management industry. He also assessed her skills and passions to determine where they would be the strongest fit. Brandon matched Tori with a resident services position, and she loved it from day one. She finds that planning and implementing resident activities and promoting a quality living experience for residents is rewarding and is something at which she excels.

 

Tori’s advice to anyone looking to land a full-time position is spot-on:

“Be on time, offer to do as much as possible (rather than sitting and awaiting a task), and have the mindset that you are going to get this position, as though you already work there.” – Tori Stillman

By being reliable, proactive, and looking for the next way to help, Tori shows that she cares about the job and the apartment community. Those looking for a full-time opportunity should treat each temporary assignment like a working interview. It is a unique opportunity to demonstrate work ethic, professionalism, and dedication to the role.

While Tori was working a JWS assignment with Greystar, the managers on-site quickly saw the extra effort Tori put in. The Greystar team knew Tori was the perfect fit for their company so they offered her a full-time Resident Services Coordinator position, and she happily accepted.

While JWS was able to help Tori get her foot in the door, it was ultimately Tori who landed herself a full-time position. Property management companies won’t just give a job to anyone who walks in the door. They’re looking for professionals who are dedicated, excited to be there, and will put in the effort to benefit the community and create a phenomenal experience for their residents.

 

Beyond the workplace, Tori lives a balanced lifestyle. She is active and loves to get out and play tennis, spend time with friends, and try new things. She also loves to take much-needed time to relax at home with her cat.

 

When asked for one last thing she wants others reading this to know, Tori said:

“Treat the temporary position as though you have already been hired and prove yourself to your employer. Be humble! I learned so much in my month with JWilliams Staffing, and I now realize I am in the exact position I need to be in.” - Tori Stillman

Tori showed that with hard work and the right mindset, you can prove to yourself and potential employers that you deserve a position on their team. Tori found the perfect fit by being open to exploring new possibilities and roles that fit her skills and needs.
