"Delighting" Your Customers

Warren Buffett, Michael Bloomber, and Jack Dorsey recently spoke at the 20th graduation of Goldman Sach’s 10,000 Small Businesses program at LaGuardia Community College. While many subjects were covered, one topic they all focused on was “where they think the business magic happens”. Warren Buffett’s theory is that we should delight our customers, not just satisfy them. It is a lot easier to recall the overall feeling we had in the moment of a delightful transaction, rather than the words spoken or the price we paid. His philosophy is not just smart, but also has some very basic roots in the old adage, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”.
