Our healthcare workers and first responders are consistently putting themselves on the line to save lives and make our neighborhoods safer. Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen an influx of community members finding creative ways to show appreciation for these selfless and courageous individuals. One local initiative that stands out is the California Love Drop.
Beginning in April of 2020, with a single delivery of 300 meals from Wahoo’s Fish Taco to Hoag Hospital in Irvine, CA, the California Love Drop initiative has quickly grown into a full-fledged local initiative with a purpose of thanking frontline workers. Those involved with the California Love Drop support these courageous individuals by personally delivering donated meals, beverages, treats, and supplies to hospitals, medical centers, fire departments, police stations, grocery distribution centers, and more.
With over 40 companies involved and over 100 love drops so far, the California Love Drop has delivered over 11,000 meals to 61 different locations across Southern California. They plan to keep their momentum going and will continue to applaud the courage of our frontline heroes with these love drops.
Our team had the opportunity to participate in several California Love Drops and were heart warmed to see the impact that this initiative has had, and continues to have, on our local first responders. When facing great challenges, these frontline heroes have put themselves in harm’s way to protect all of us. More than ever, it is critical to show our support and thank these heroes for everything they have done.
Thank you to every healthcare worker and first responder for the courage and humanity you have shown in these difficult times.
