Real Estate Property Accountant

We are seeking experienced Real Estate Property Accountants for full-time, direct-hire opportunities throughout Texas!

The Real Estate Property Accountant will directly support the company in all aspects of accounting and is responsible for the input of rental income for multiple properties, owner’s statement reconciliations, and assist in 1099 processing at year-end. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience and be a self-starter. Our direct placement division is searching for experienced, dedicated professionals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review, and investigate outsourced property owner statements for errors, fees, and credits for each individual property, resolving any discrepancies and reconcile
  • MUST be very detailed oriented and willing to go the extra mile in maintaining internal property management books
  • Understand and monitor all aspects of the properties’ balance sheets, including fixed assets, debt, receivables, payables, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Process accounts payable, including verifying, auditing, and checking that appropriate approvals are documented on the invoice
  • Prepare accounts payable checks for signature
  • Process deposits from tenants whether it be electronic payments or checks/money orders.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely organized with the ability to hit periodic deadlines
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports
  • Assist in year-end reconciliation process, rents, expenses, and PM reserve accounts
  • Assist the Asset Managers and Controller as needed

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Accounting degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of property management accounting experience
  • Proficient in QuickBooks required
  • Yardi or other Property Management software, strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical ability; understands details as well as big picture; presents a meaningful analysis
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and logical in problem-solving; well organized with attention to detail; follow through with assignments; well organized; self-starter, and able to juggle multiple priorities
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers and coworkers
