Field Superintendent

Our client, a premier investment management and development firm, is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to join their team. This successful and growing firm is dedicated to developing multifamily projects in high growth markets while redefining urban living.

The Field Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of several multifamily renovations and value-add project sites. This includes the supervision of and coordination with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors and coordination with property managers and regulatory agencies. Reports to and communicates regularly with Construction Managers. Candidates must have multi-family construction experience for consideration.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee and supervise the day to day work of general and sub-contractors to ensure commitment to timeline, budget and quality workmanship that conforms to the plans and design intent.
  • Analyze monthly construction contractor schedule updates; advise on progress payments based on schedule updates.
  • Proactively develop vendor contacts and material requisitions for best pricing model and long term relationships.
  • Manage all property-related construction activities to be completed by the company (self-perform) versus General Contractor such as demolition, site clearing, abatement work, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining rough and finish quality control to ensure a consistently high standard of work is produced in accordance with specification and quality standards through regular quality inspections.
  • Create and maintain good relations with external contract partners, vendors, design teams and inspectors along with appropriate stakeholders and community contacts.
  • Stay current with local compliance regulations and inspection requirements and address any risk management issues in advance.
  • Responsible for safety inspections and fulfilling the health, safety and welfare responsibilities as required by local, state and federal requirements.
  • Prepare and review construction schedule and budget updates; review draws/invoices to confirm accuracy and conformance with actual field completion; and other as-needed reporting.
  • Responsible for communicating to Construction Management with regard to job schedules and any problems with field work and with assisting in resolving those problems
  • Maintain accurate documents for project archive and historical reference.


  • High degree of demonstrated organizational skills and problem-solving ability, specifically the ability to access resources inside and outside of the firm.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks to achieve project goals.
  • Articulate communication skills – verbal, pictorial, numerical – as relevant to the construction supervision process.
  • Superior negotiating skills and mediator with various audiences.
  • Problem solving expertise, demonstrated by identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner; working with others to solve complex issues.
  • Confidence to thrive under pressure.


  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a field related to construction (i.e., engineering, architecture, construction) or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction with emphasis in multifamily value add.
  • Proven track record of project management skills.
  • Industry licenses or certifications a plus.
  • Exposure to environmental, health & safety, inspection processes.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
