Director of Accounting

Our client, a highly successful and innovative third-party property management company, is looking to add a Director of Accounting to their team in Redondo Beach! This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant looking for the next step in their career.

 

The Director of Accounting is responsible for providing financial oversight of the properties under management and for performing corporate accounting functions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform month-end closing duties
  • Preparation of monthly financial packages
  • Monitoring budgets and cash flow for each property
  • Preparing monthly site billings for management fees
  • Setting up tenant ledgers and vendors
  • Maintaining CAM spreadsheets
  • Read and understand the partnership agreement, the property management agreement and any loan documents related to assigned properties.
  • Processing AP/AR including reviewing accounts payable batches for proper coding and approvals, propriety of payments, supporting documents, etc.  Post reviewed and approved Accounts Payable (AP) batches.
  • Prepare wire transfers and/or check requests as needed.
  • Prepare year-end audit packages as required.
  • Oversee 3rd-party accounting support in completing all monthly accounting assigned to them.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:                                                         
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting
  • Min 2+ year’s Residential Property Management Accounting experience required
  • Strong bookkeeping skills and financial acumen
  • Yardi Voyager 6.0 knowledge is mandatory
  • Knowledge for general real estate accounting practices
  • Expert-level with Microsoft Excel

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated expertise in Yardi Voyager 6.0 and newer is an absolute requirement. No resumes will be reviewed that don’t prominently display this capability.
  • Experience with residential property management accounting is also a must, with affordable housing experience a plus.
  • THERE IS AN OPTION TO WORK FROM HOME FULL-TIME but you must be located in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area and able to travel to offices in the South Bay region of LA as needed.
