Pay Rate: $175,000/year

Position Purpose

The Corporate Controller will provide day-to-day financial operations for the Corporate Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of private and public accounting experience with exposure to real estate funds, partnerships and consolidations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process/deadlines.
  • Manage new acquisition onboarding including preparing opening entries.
  • Coordinate and oversee property sale entries, prorations and work with buyer accountants post sale (tenant collections, CAM reconciliations etc.) and prepare gain or loss on sale entries.
  • Prepare monthly management report with variance comments.
  • Lead yearly audits and completion of financial statements in IFRS, GAAP and Tax
  • Oversee and prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee annual budgets with consolidation and tie out.
  • Oversee property management fee calculations.
  • Oversee calculation of property performance and promote allocations (waterfalls)
  • Familiar with lease agreement review and setup in Yardi.
  • Assist with special projects related to monthly close reporting process, budgets, internal audit, external audit, investor, and lender requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting
  • 3+ years’ experience in public accounting
  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial accounting or PE
  • Experience with Yardi software a plus.
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding of business and accounting principles (US GAAP & IFRS) including consolidation reporting/elimination entries
  • Understanding of lease agreements and lease terms
  • Proficient in Microsoft software
  • Excellent Excel skills (to build models, templates, building macros/pivot tables)
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize
  • Exercise a high degree of independent judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Customer service oriented.
  • Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated and a team player
