Account Manager (Outside Sales)

Our client, a respected & growing flooring manufacturer, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Outside Sales Account Manager to join their team! This company’s success is highly attributed to their consistent product development, variety of options, and affordability for high quality materials.


The Outside Sales Account Manager will establish, develop, and maintain positive business relationships with retail accounts in their designated territory. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, knowledgeable, and effectively act as the “face” of this company at the in-store level. The Account Manager will also discover new customers, work to grow profitable sales, and achieve quotas. As a key member of our sales team, they will analyze business needs and use territory, competitor, and market knowledge to generate best practice ideas and drive sales.


  • Establish productive and continuous professional relationships with both new and assigned accounts
  • Travel to existing and potential customers to provide them with information and support
  • Make sales presentations
  • Contact prospective customers and explain the features and merits of the products utilizing persuasive sales and negotiation techniques
  • Answer all questions concerning our products via phone, email, or in person
  • Provide customer service to ensure resolution of concerns or complaints. Provide specific customer feedback to management and/or customer service personnel as appropriate to assist in achieving company objectives.
  • Conduct product knowledge sessions geared toward in-store personnel & execute new product introductions as well as customer specific initiatives and promotions
  • Represent the company at new store openings and in-store events when necessary
  • Ensure displays are well kept and current. Keep account price books current.
  • Keep abreast of best business practices, and trends. Inform management of economic and territory changes as well as monitor and evaluate products, pricing, and promotional activities of competition within the market place that may affect sales.
  • Utilize CRM and keep account notes current. Analyze sales history and identify additional activities, training, or materials necessary to achieve specific sales goals in key accounts and markets.
  • Attend sales meetings and provide timely reporting of field activity
  • Manage expense reporting in accordance with corporate guidelines and ensure all assigned company owned equipment are used, maintained, and stored as required and in accordance with company policy.



  • Experience as a sales representative
  • Experience in the flooring industry or wholesale environment is highly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and toward team goals in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with CRM, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Exceptional presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact and negotiate with internal and external business contacts at all organizational levels.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs. (has to set up displays/move boards)
