Assessing home sales talent

Posted: March, 22, 2011 | Categories: Sales and Customer Service

Let's face it. Consumer confidence in home purchasing still lags and home sales are harder to close than they were just a few years ago.  Today's builder has to take a harder look at the talent pool and the potential candidates they bring in to participate in the sales process.

So what are builders looking for in new home sales talent? They are assessing many qualities '“ your personality and character, your ability to work on a team, your leadership abilities and (most importantly) your enthusiasm, which has always been of paramount importance to builders. Enthusiasm is key because rejection in new home sales is inevitable '“ especially in today's climate – and builders need to know your enthusiasm won't suffer because of it.

Builders also often conduct group interviews to ascertain your ability to interact and work with others. They seek the individuals in the group that are assertive and that still remain popular among the others. This quality signifies true leadership, which distinguishes the best candidates from the large pool of talent seeking sales positions.
